Deal signs bills cracking down on child sex trafficking

By Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) Gov. Nathan Deal has signed legislation aimed at cracking down on the sexual exploitation of children.

Deal on Tuesday signed Sen. Renee Unterman's Senate Resolution 7, which sets up a proposed constitutional amendment to be on the statewide ballot in November 2016.

The amendment would authorize Senate Bill 8, which levies an annual $5,000 fee on strip clubs and fines pimps $2,500 for a fund to help sexually exploited children.

The Buford Republican says funds will be used to pay for housing, health care and other services for children forced into prostitution. She says Atlanta has become of the biggest magnets in the country for such activity.
