TOCCOA - Investigations into alleged drug activity in Stephens County recently culminated in a total of five arrests.

According to a media release from Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Agent Mitchell Posey, four of those arrests occurred last Friday after a two month investigation.

Posey said his department, along with the Georgia Department of Corrections Canine Unit and the Stephens County Sheriff's Office, made the arrests at the 200-block of Stephens Drive in Toccoa following citizen complaints of drug activity.

Arrested at the site were 35-year-old Brandy Handberry and 42-year-old Robert Handberry, both of Toccoa. Both face charges of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute.

Also arrested at the residence were 20-year-old Toccoa resident Jahavin Nathaniel Spencer, who was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes, and 21-year-old Stephen Kordell Hunter, who was charged with Possession of Marijuana.

A month before these arrests, in an apparently separate case, another Toccoa resident was arrested for carrying out drug sales at area motels.

Posey said 42-year-old Sterling Sebastian Williams was arrested on March 30th and charged with selling cocaine. No other details were given regarding Williams' arrest.

The release noted that both investigations are ongoing at this time.
