By B.J. Williams

GAINESVILLE — Gainesville's first ever Outrun Cancer 5K will benefit a local toddler who is battling childhood retinoblastoma.

The run is scheduled for Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m. in the Longstreet Hills neighborhood and the historic Brenau University area. The 5K race will start and finish at the Martha Hope Cabin at 528 Prior Street in Gainesville.

The event is touted as family friendly, suitable for all ages. Organizers say in addition to the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, they  will have bounce houses and other activities geared around fun for the whole family after the races!

All proceeds from the inaugural event are going to the family of Asher Rock.
