JEFFERSON - After spending almost five hours on the run, an inmate who fled a work detail in Jackson County has been caught.

Johnny Weaver, the Warden for the Jackson County Correctional Institution, said 36-year-old Michael Sean Lillibridge got away from a park and recreation work detail in a county dump truck around 2:50 Thursday afternoon.

Authorities tracked Lillibridge to Spalding County, where he was caught in Griffin around 7:45 p.m.

Weaver did not offer other details on the inmate's capture.

At the time of the escape, Lillibridge was serving time on a narcotics charge. He also had convictions on aggravated assault and burglary, according to jail records. As of Friday morning, charges related to the theft of the county vehicle and the escape had not yet been filed.
