GAINESVILLE - We're about a week away from the start of Memorial Day weekend, the traditional start of the summer travel period, but state officials are wasting no time touting the message of safety on the highways this summer.
This summer, the state of Georgia is joining with other states along the East Coast in a major law enforcement effort that focuses on safe travel, specifically on the use of seat belts.
Harris Blackwood with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and Col. Mark McDonough, the Commissioner of Georgia's Department of Public Safety recently dropped by the AccessWDUN studios to discuss the Border to Border summer safety campaign.
The campaign officially starts at 6 p.m. Monday, May 18.
