“I have full confidence that both colleges will be in good hands as we search for the next great leader of Athens Technical College,” said Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Gretchen Corbin. “Dr. Thaxton and Dr. Ivester will provide excellent guidance for the leadership in place at both colleges, and we all appreciate their flexibility and willingness to assist during this time of transition.”
Following the conclusion of the committee’s search for the new Athens Technical College president, Dr. Gail Thaxton will resume her Presidency at North Georgia Technical College. This process is expected to be completed within in a couple of months.
“I am grateful that Dr. Ivester has agreed to serve as Acting President at North Georgia Tech,” said Dr. Thaxton. “With Mark stepping up, we won’t miss a beat in our continued work to implement solid plans for student success.”
“It is a testimony to the skills and talents in our system that we have such exceptional leaders willing to take on temporary assignments for the good of our students across this great state,” said Commissioner Corbin. “We all thank Dr. Tydings for her years of dedicated work and service within TCSG and for the students of Georgia, and I am confident that the next President of Athens Tech will continue the great work she has done.”
