ATLANTA (AP) An animal rights group is planning a rally in Atlanta to protest captive whale and dolphin programs.
Georgia Animal Rights and Protection organizers say a group is planning to protest outside the Georgia Aquarium Saturday at noon.
Organizers say they're also going to protest the death of a female beluga whale calf that died at the aquarium Friday. Officials have said preliminary tests have shown the calf may have had gastrointestinal problems and difficulties digesting food. Officials say a necropsy will be performed but the calf's exact cause of death may never be clear.
Organizers say they're planning to protest as part of an annual international rally titled Empty the Tanks Worldwide.
