GAINESVILLE — Authorities have released the identity of a man killed at a Gainesville apartment complex Monday night as Phillip Ronald Smith, 55, and the man died of a gunshot wound, according to a press release from the Gainesville Police Department.
Gainesville detectives and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the death, which happened at Atlanta Street apartments.
Officers responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to Gainesville Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook.
"Upon arrival, officers found a male subject who was deceased outside of an apartment," said Holbrook.
