ATLANTA — Several sports news sources report the Atlanta Hawks plan to promote head coach Mike Budenholzer to president of the team, while parting ways with current General Manager Danny Ferry.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution said the Hawks have declined comment on the report.
Ferry has been on an indefinite leave of absence following a racially charged audio tape that surfaced last September.
New ownership for the Hawks is expected to be in place by next week, once the NBA Board of Governors approves sale of the team to a group led by Tony Ressler. That approval could come as early as June 24, according to Yahoo Sports.
