Suspects in Oakwood Walmart robbery arrested

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

OAKWOOD -Authorities have arrested the three suspects in the Monday morning robbery of an Oakwood Walmart, as well as a fourth suspect, after receiving an identity tip from the public.

Investigator Todd Templeton of the Oakwood Police Department said Tuesday night that 66-year-old Johnnie McClain, 31-year-old Ryan Stephens, 24-year-old Wachovia Thompson and 51 year-old Carolyn Jones, all of Gainesville, were arrested by authorities.

McClain, Stephens and Thompson are suspects in the Walmart robbery where a 50-inch flat screen television was stolen from the store just before 1 a.m. Monday. During the investigation, Templeton said the three, along with Jones, were also implicated in a theft at the Aldi store on Mundy Mill Road.

Oakwood Police partnered with Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta to offer a reward to the public for information on the identities of the suspects. Templeton said it was one of those tips that led to the arrests.
