40,000 gallons of sewage spills into Lawrenceville lake

By B.J. Williams

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) Officials say 40,000 gallons of raw sewage has leaked into a lake at a Lawrenceville park.

Gwinnett County spokesman Joe Sorenson tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution an 8-inch pipe near Rhodes Jordan Park burst Wednesday and caused the sewage to leak into a stream that flows into the lake.

Sorenson says anglers are being told to throw back any fish they caught in the lake and that the sewage spill isn't expected to have a major impact on the park.
