GDOL to help Ollie’s Bargain Outlet hire workers for new store in Oakwood

By B.J. Williams

ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will help Ollie’s Bargain Outlet recruit a 60-member crew to set up a new store scheduled to open in Oakwood in September.

The Oakwood store is part of Ollie's plan to expand the company's footprint in the Southeast. Last year, the company opened a large distribution center in Jackson County.

The recruitment fair for the Oakwood store set-up will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the GDOL’s Gainesville Career Center at 2756 Atlanta Highway.

The crew’s duties will include building fixtures, putting in shelves, unloading trucks, sorting and ticketing merchandise and displaying items on the sales floor. The positions are temporary and part-time; however, once the store opens, members of the crew may become full-time employees as department supervisors, cashiers and sales associates.

Salaries are $8.50 an hour, according to GDOL officials.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal background check. Those who are interested may obtain an application prior to the recruitment at the GDOL’s Gainesville Career Center; they may also apply online or apply in person during the event.

For additional information about the recruitment, contact the GDOL’s Gainesville Career Center at (770) 535-5484.
