ATLANTA — A former Georgia congressman is returning to the classroom at Kennesaw State University.
University officials on Monday announced that former Republican Rep. Bob Barr will teach "The Constitution and Public Policy" course this fall. Barr represented Georgia's 7th District from 1995 to 2003. He attempted a political comeback in 2014, but was defeated in a runoff by then-state Sen. Barry Loudermilk for the 11th Congressional District seat.
Kennesaw State officials said Barr taught courses in 2008, 2009 and 2013. He will be a part-time assistant professor and have an option to return for the spring semester.
Barr, who practices law in Atlanta, will instruct students in examining the Constitution from a historical standpoint and analyzing current public policy.
Barr becomes the second former congressman from Georgia to land a teaching job in recent weeks at one of the state's public colleges and universities. John Barrow, a Democrat who lost his re-election bid last fall, was recently named to the faculty at the University of Georgia.
