Authorities say man's body found after fire at Canton home

CANTON, Ga. (AP) Authorities are investigating after they say a body was discovered following a fire at a Canton home.

Multiple media outlets report Canton police and firefighters, along with members of the Cherokee County Fire Department, responded to the house fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say crews were able to extinguish the blaze. Officials say upon doing so, the body was found inside.

Canton Police Chief Mark Mitchell says the body has been identified as a male victim. Police have not released the man's identity or any information on how he may have died.

The investigation is ongoing.
