CUMMING - The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recently approved a resolution enacting a moratorium on accepting applications to rezone property to the Multifamily Residential (RES6) zoning classification.
A 30-day moratorium on the acceptance of such applications was approved by the board August 11. Following a public hearing on September 3, the Commission approved continuation of the moratorium which will be in effect until the county’s Comprehensive Plan has been updated, unless the Commission decides otherwise.
The moratorium does not prohibit acceptance of applications for rezoning to PUD (Planned Unit Development District) and MPD (Master Planned District) classifications even if such applications include a multi-family dwelling (apartment) component.
