Former UNG, Branch hoops standout Hollis signs contract in Portugal's top league

ANGRA, PORGUTAL — S.C. Lusitania EXPERT has recently agreed to terms with former University of North Georgia men's basketball standout Ishmael Hollis as the former Nighthawk star will continue his professional career overseas. 

The agreement marks Hollis' second appearance to Angra after playing last summer for the South Metro Pirates in the Australia State League where he averaged 29.5 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest.

The Flowery Branch High graduate has also spent time playing professionally in the United Kingdom (Scorchers).

S.C. Lusitania EXPERT is a professional basketball team based in Angra do Heroísmo, Azores, Portugal and competes as a member of the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol. The LPB is the highest level of basketball in Portugal.

Hollis represented UNG in the Reese's NCAA Division II College All-Star game in 2014 after being named a 1st team Peach Belt Conference All-Conference selection as a senior. 

Hollis was the PBC's second leading scorer (19.8 points per game) and fourth leading rebounder (9.1 rebounds per game). He tallied 10 double-doubles on the season and garnered a pair of postseason accolades having landed a spot on the Daktronics All-Region team as a second team selection, and was named to the NABC's Coaches' Division II All-District first team.
