Forsyth Co residents asked for input on connectivity plan

CUMMING — Forsyth County officials are asking for the public's help in developing a subarea plan for the betterment of the northern part of the county.

The subarea plan is part of the larger Forsyth County Bicycle Transportation and Pedestrian Walkways 2025 plan, which focuses on neighborhood connections to county facilities and commercial areas.

"What we're working on developing is a subarea plan for a portion of north Forsyth County," said Jodi Gardner, county spokeswoman. "It's being designed to promote physical health, looking at connectivity - the inner connection of trails and paths - supporting the increased walkability and bicycle travel."

There will be two community workshops and a public meeting in October for community input. The open-house style workshops will be held from 4-8 p.m. on October 12 and 13, the first at Central Park Recreation Center and the second at the Coal Mountain Park Community Building.

The public meeting will be held later in the month on October 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Forsyth County Administration Building and will follow a regular meeting format.

"We're inviting citizens to attend the meetings and provide recommendations and learn more about the subarea plan and share their thoughts with the project team," Gardner said.

Gardner said the same information will be available at all meetings.

There is also an online survey that county residents can take online as part of the subarea plan that focuses on the use of the Big Creek Greenway.
