Authorities say a man accused of stabbing his mother to death near Woodstock is now accused of attacking another inmate inside the Cherokee County jail.
Cherokee County Lt. Jay Baker said 21-year-old Michael Jacobs grabbed the neck of a fellow inmate from behind as food was being given to the inmates Monday afternoon. Baker said in a statement that deputies removed Jacobs from the other inmate, who wasn't hurt. Jacobs has been charged with aggravated assault in the jail attack.
Police say Jacobs stabbed his mother on Sunday during a dispute. It's unclear what prompted the argument.
He's scheduled to make his first court appearance at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on charges of felony murder and murder without malice in the killing of his mother.
