TIGER — Rabun County scored 34 points in a seven minute span in the first quarter to jump out to a quick lead en route to a 65-7 win over Social Circle Friday night in Region 8-AA action at Frank Snyder Stadium.
Junior quarterback Bailey Fisher was the catalyst tossing four touchdown passes in the barrage, including a pair of 20-yard touchdown passes two to Kolby Blalock and one each to Austin Jones (55 yards) and Braxton Hicks (75 yards). Those were sandwiched around a 10-yard touchdown run by Cal Drummond.
Social Circle tried to stem the tide getting an 82-yard touchdown run from Hunter Perren early in the second quarter to cut the lead to 34-7. But the Wildcats (6-0, 3-0 Region 8-AA) exploded again with 17 points in a two-minute burst in the second quarter.
Drummond added a second touchdown run of 6-yards, Andrew Barnes booted a 28-yard field goal, and Fisher had a 16-yard touchdown run to close out the half for a 51-7 halftime lead.
The only scoring in the second half was a pair of third quarter Chase Horton touchdown passes of 38-yards to Devon Snow and 32-yards to Holden Bleckley.
Rabun County finished the night with 601 total yards of offense and the defense held the Redskins (2-6, 1-3) to just 176 total yards and forced five Social Circle turnovers.
The Wildcats next will travel to Elbert County in what is sure to be a de facto battle for the region title. The Blue Devils (6-1, 3-0) were off this week and will come into the game riding a four-game winning streak.
