The Oakwood City Council Monday night approved a small increase in the city tax rate.
According to City Manager Stan Brown, the new rate is 4.174 mills. The old rate was four mills. The increase is needed, city officials say, to offset a decline in the tax digest and in order to maintain the same level of tax revenue.
Tax bills are expected to be mailed November 1.
