HOMER — Banks County football is headed back to the state playoffs for the first time since 2011 thanks to a 42-21 win over Social Circle on Friday in Homer.

The Leopards (4-4, 3-1 Region 8-AA) jumped ahead early and then answered a Redskins charge to pull away for good.

Griffin Goodwin tossed three touchdown passes and finished with over 235 yards through the air. Banks County running back Clayton Dykehouse also played a key role, rushing 23 times for 114 yards and two scores.

"This is absolutely big for our program and our kids; they've worked so hard," said first-year Leopards coach Josh Shoemaker.

Banks County travels to Putnam County next week as it looks to improve its postseason seeding.
