Bales to be named Hall County schools' Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

By AccessWDUN Staff

Hall County School District Superintendent Will Schofield has announced he will recommend long-time administrator Kevin Bales as the district's new Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

If the recommendation is approved by the school board, Bales will replace Dr. Eloise Barron, who is retiring at the end of the current semester.

"Kevin Bales is a servant leader who has worked in numerous capacities within the district for twenty-two years. His leadership experience, technical knowledge, and genuine caring for others make him the natural choice to follow Dr. Barron," Schofield said in a press statement.

Bales, who currently serves as Executive Director for School Improvement, began his career in the district in 1994 when he was employed as teacher at West Hall Middle School. He transitioned from the classroom to school leadership when he became WHMS assistant principal in 2001. In 2006, Bales was selected to serve as principal at East Hall Middle, a position he held until 2012 when he began working in his current position in the district office.

In addition to his job experiences, Kevin Bales pursued a path in his formal education that helped to prepare him for his new role. In 1993 he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. He then continued his post-graduate education, earning a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from the University of Georgia in 1999 and an Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership from Liberty University in 2006.

Schofield is set to make his official recommendation at the next meeting of the Hall County Board of Education, scheduled for December 12 at 5 p.m. at school board headquarters at 711 Green Street in Gainesville.
