Suwanee PD, Gwinnett SWAT arrest man wanted in violent crime

By Bryan Pirkle Reporter

Gwinnett County authorities say a SWAT situation in Suwanee ended peacefully Thursday afternoon when a wanted fugitive was arrested without incident.

Austin Kent Frazier, 32, was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m., according to a social media post made by the city government shortly after the arrest.

Police Capt. Cass Mooney said officers with the Suwanee Police Department, assisted by members of the Gwinnett County SWAT team, were working to serve multiple arrests warrants at Frazier's home on Town Center Avenue when they learned the suspect had left the location.

Frazier was wanted on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children, Criminal Trespass, Theft by Taking and Simple Battery. Mooney said all of the charges "related to an incident of family violence."

Authorities, working with an anonymous tip that said Frazier had returned to his home, revisited the location a second time.

"Due to the serious nature of the crimes, the SWAT team took point in the warrant service," Mooney added.

Frazier was then taken into custody by Suwanee authorities.

According to Mooney, Frazier has a previous arrest history in Gwinnett County, although specific details are not known at this time.
