An armed man held up the CVS store on Spout Springs Road in Braselton Wednesday night and at last report, police are still looking for him.
Police Chief Terry Esco said his officers were called to the scene just after 7 p.m.
"Upon our arrival, [we found] the clerk had been robbed by some object," said Esco. "We don't know for sure if it was a gun or not, but it appeared to be a gun."
Surveillance footage showed the object was concealed in what appeared to be an article of clothing.
Esco said the clerk did the "right thing," as he turned over the money from the cash register to the suspect. He said no one was hurt during the course of the hold up.
"We think there was one customer there and he waited until she left from what we can see on video," said Esco. He said there was more than one employee at the store, but he was unsure of exactly how many were present at the time of the hold-up.
Esco said his department got some help from the Gwinnett County Police Department's K9 Unit.
"They tracked him to a nearby Waffle House where he [the K9] lost scent," Esco said. "We assume he had a car waiting on him or he got a ride and he was gone."
Esco said Braselton police investigators are working with nearby jurisdictions to see if this hold-up might be tied to other CVS armed robberies in north Georgia.
