The Baldor Electric Company motor manufacturing plant in Flowery Branch was recently presented with the Baldor Electric Co. 2015 President’s Safety Award.
This location, selected from more than 15 Baldor manufacturing plants in North America, earned this recognition for having achieved zero days away, zero restricted cases, a zero DART rate and a zero incident rate during the 2015 calendar year.
“Given the level of safety improvement by all of the Baldor facilities, it is an especially great honor for the Flowery Branch team to be recognized for their efforts,” said Plant Manager Mike Holman. “While I am proud we received it, what’s important to me is what the award symbolizes: we had more than 300 individuals pull together to achieve a common goal, and we currently have 546 days where no one has gone home hurt. This coming year it will be important that we find and overreact to potential safety incidents so as not to become complacent with our current success.”
Mike Ballman, Baldor’s Director of Environmental, Health and Safety, added, “The Flowery Branch plant has worked very hard to make safety a key part of their culture. The have dramatically increased their safety observation tours and hazard reporting, and they are proving that taking proactive measures makes a bigger impact on safety than reacting to lagging metrics.”
The Flower Branch facility, open since 1977, produces variable speed AC and DC industrial motors as well as other specially engineered motors.
