Keith Freeman opened up the 2016 racing season at Hartwell Speedway in high style Saturday, as he scored the Limited Late Model feature win on the first race of the season at the Hartwell, Georgia raceway.
Freeman had to beat one of the area’s toughest dirt competitors, as he outran David McCoy around the 3/8 mile clay oval, but in the end, came away with the victory. Ashley Poole finished in third, with Bubba Russell in fourth and Drew Collins in fifth.
Jeffery Lampp, Stephen Segars, Chad Puckett, Ken Lampp and Clayton Turner rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Adam Smith powered to the SECA Late Model feature victory, beating out Payton Freeman for the win. David McCoy came across the finish line in third, with Adam Partain in fourth and Will Beard in fifth.
Justin Sims topped the Modified Street field to take the win. Kole Hardy finished second, followed by Greg Parks in third, Trey Ridgeway in fourth and Scott McJunkin in fifth.
In Stock V8 action, Chayse York took the victory, with Ricky Mauldin, Evan Brown, Ray Foskey and Wayne Chapman rounding out the top five.
Jeremy Hicks scored the Stock Four Cylinder feature win. Mason Tucker came home in second, followed by Shane Strickland in third, Cy Strickland in fourth and Mike Little in fifth.
Bubba Russell won the Hobby Stock feature, with Mike Payne finishing second, while Trey Chapman was the Up Front winner.
Hartwell Speedway returns to action on March 12, with racing slated for the Limited Late Model, SECA Late Model, Hobby, Modified Street, Stock V8, Stock Four and Up Front divisions.
