Several Forsyth County agencies will host forum on child abuse and sexual assault awareness

The Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center will be a part of the first Annual Prevention & Awareness Forum this month to discuss child abuse prevention and sexual assault awareness.

"The forum coincides with April's prevent child abuse and sexual assault awareness month and is a partnership with several other local agencies to discuss the issues surrounding those two core topics and how they relate to issues like domestic violence," said Victim Support Manager for the Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center, Tennile Chapman.

The free event will take place on April 21 from 9am-2pm in Cumming and will provide participants lunch provided by Firehouse Subs.

Chapman says the forum is designed not only for agencies that work with victims of abuse on a daily basis, but also for the victims themselves themselves.

"Family members or community members that have been touched by abuse, or know people that have, that want to know 'what can I do or get involved' can gather a lot from the forum."

Seven different local agencies came together to put the event together that will have several speakers and experts discussing topics surrounding both sexual assault and child abuse.

The event begins at 9am at the Sgt. David P. Land Memorial Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #82 in Cumming and participants are asked to reserve their seat by visiting the registration website.
