Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee is reminding Hall County residents who want to vote in the May 24 General Primary that they must be registered to vote by the end of the day on Tuesday, April 26.
The deadline applies to all counties in Georgia.
Citizens may register to vote on the Georgia Secretary of State's website or they can register in person at any county elections office.
In order to register, a potential voter must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a legal resident of the county
- Be at least 17 1/2 years of age to register and 18 years of age to vote
- Not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude
- Have not been found mentally incompetent by a judge
Sosebee said any first-time registrant must provide an ID to proceed with registration, whether it's online, by the GeorgiaVotes mobile app or in person.
If a potential voter downloads and application and wants to mail the form, it should be mailed to Hall County Board of Elections & Voter Registration; P O Box 1435 Gainesville, Georgia 30503 (Hall County voters only) or Honorable Brian P. Kemp, Secretary of State, State of Georgia, P O Box 105325, Atlanta, Georgia 30348-9562.
Sosebee said if someone needs to file a change of address or change of name, the same form is used.
A sample ballot for the General Primary Election in Hall County is on the county's election webpage.
