Charges are pending in a single-vehicle crash in Forsyth County that killed a 14-year-old Buford girl Thursday night.
Authorities said Morgan Tumlin was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled during the crash; she was pinned underneath the vehicle for a time. Tumlin was transported to Northside Forsyth Hospital where she died from her injuries.
The driver of the 1996 Toyota Camry has been identified as Kayla Savanna Welch, 19, of Buford. Welch was treated for injuries at North Fulton Hospital, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
Welch's other passengers were Elijah Mayfield, 18, of Buford and Latoya Tabordon, 22, of Gainesville. Authorities said Tabordon suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized because she is 36 weeks pregnant with twins. A press statement said the babies are expected to be okay. Mayfield was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released from the hospital.
The crash happened around 6 p.m. on the road leading to Lower Pool Park off Buford Dam Road.
Investigators said the cause and contributing factors of the crash remain under investigation.
