A fire on Father's Day morning destroyed a home in Jefferson, according to Jackson County emergency officials.
EMA Director Steve Nichols said in a press statement crews arrived at the house at 2168 Holiday Cemetery Road around 7:30 a.m. Sunday and found the building in flames. He said no one was home at the time.
An investigation is underway to determine how the fire started. The South Jackson Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall's Office are working together on the investigation.
Nichols said the incident was terminated at 9:40 a.m.
