Hall County School Superintendent Will Schofield announced Thursday afternoon that he will recommend Jennifer Westbrook as the principal of Mt. Vernon Elementary for the 2016-17 school year.

"With deep roots in Hall County, Jennifer comes to us with a wealth of experiences and the highest recommendations from many of the most trusted educators I know," Schofield said in an email statement.

Currently, Westbrook serves as the Assistant Principal for Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy. She has been a classroom teacher in both Buford and Gainesville City. Westbrook lives in the North Hall area, according to Schofield.

"Our board of education will act on this recommendation at our next meeting, July 18," Schofield said.

The Hall County School Board meets at 5 p.m. at the headquarters building at 711 Green Street in Gainesville.

Westbrook will replace Connie Daniels, who recently resigned to accept a district office position with Lumpkin County Schools.
