Black Lives Matter protesters to meet with Atlanta's mayor today

By Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) One week after hundreds of protesters demonstrated outside the Georgia governor's mansion, leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement plan to meet with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

Several nights of protests in Atlanta were held after high-profile police shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota. Reed and Atlanta Police Chief George Turner met with some of the demonstrators in an armored van and agreed to Monday's meeting.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/29P5pDM) that the meeting is still planned for Monday morning, despite Sunday's killing of three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The newspaper reports that groups under that Black Lives Matter umbrella gathered last week to draft action points to present at the meeting. Issues from affordable housing to vacant properties to homelessness have been mentioned as problems that need of attention.
