White County authorities investigating animal cruelty case

By Dean Dyer

Cleveland - White County Animal Control and the White County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate an animal cruelty case.

A case report from White County Animal Control states that on Tuesday, July 12th, a resident on Highway 255 South reported that a mother cat and kittens had been left on their property.

Before a White County Animal Control officer could get to the property, someone apparently brought the animals to the animal control office.

According to the case report, the cat and kitten were tangled in Kudzu; after that was removed it, was discovered that the kittens were zip-tied to the mother cat.

The report said that the mother cat and kittens suffered injuries as a result of being tied together.  One of the kittens was already dead. The remaining animals were transported to Cleveland Veterinary Hospital for treatment.

The White County Sheriff’s Office was also contacted.

Last Thursday, the mother cat was reported to be doing better, but all the kittens had died as a result of their injuries.

The cat was picked up from Cleveland Veterinary Hospital and later transferred to Angels Among Us Rescue for Special Needs.
