Georgia officials hope residents will vote for GSP patrol car

Officials with the Georgia Department of Public Safety are asking for the public's support in a different way over the next week.

The American Association of State Troopers (AAST) is conducting its online 2016 Best Looking Cruiser Contest through Aug. 15.

DPS officials hope Georgia residents will vote for the Georgia State Patrol's iconic blue and grey patrol car.

The social media contest allows people to select their favorite state police/state patrol vehicle on Facebook. The winner will be presented with the "Best Looking Cruiser Award" and featured on the cover of AAST's "America's Best Looking Trooper Cruisers Wall Calendar."

Ballots may be cast by clicking "like" on the individual photograph of the cruiser representing the state favored. AAST officials point out that only "likes" for individual cruisers will be counted. Emojis and comments are welcome, but will not be counted.

On Facebook, voting can be found at https://www.facebook.com/StateTroopers/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1147388865334604

Voting ends at 5 p.m. EST Monday, Aug. 15.
