A discussion on plans for a new Enota Elementary School building is on the agenda for this Saturday's Gainesville City School Board retreat.
The Enota plan is the only item on the agenda for the afternoon session, which begins right after lunch at 1 p.m.
The agenda, published Wednesday, says board members will focus on two specific questions related to Enota:
- What have we agreed upon so far?
- How do we proceed regarding the plan for the building?
Citizens have complained at several meetings and work sessions that the board has not considered public opinion for the new school. At the center of the disagreement is the removal of an educational garden on the property; the Smartville Garden has been part of the Enota property for eight years.
In addition to the Enota plan, board members will take time for a self-assessment and will also do some strategic planning, according to the agenda.
The retreat starts at 9 a.m. at the Peach State Bank and Trust Building in downtown Gainesville. The Enota discussion is scheduled for 1 p.m. The retreat - except for a portion reserved for executive session at the onset of the gathering - is open to the public.
