They say no one is perfect, but perhaps “they” never met Dhruv Gaur.
The Lakeview Academy senior recently scored a perfect 1600 on the SAT college admission test.
Gaur, who achieved a perfect score on his first attempt at the exam, attributes his accomplishment to persistence and practice.
“It’s all about preparation,” Gaur said. “Through practice you start to see patterns and areas where you should focus your attention.”
Gaur studied about 30 minutes a day for the month leading up to the SAT and used the weekends to take practice tests and determine where he should focus his studies the following week. Although he is still deciding where he will attend college, he said he hopes to pursue his passion in biological sciences.
He also knew advanced preparation for the SAT would be essential to his performance because he had four AP Exams scheduled the same week.
“Spreading out my time for the SAT really let me focus on my AP Exams without worrying about being unprepared,” Gaur said.
Unprepared he was not. In addition to his perfect 1600 on the SAT, Gaur also earned a 5, the highest possible score, on all his Advanced Placement (AP) Exams that week. In fact, he has scored a 5 on a total of eight AP Exams during his high school career – another impressive feat.
The senior’s commitment to preparing for his exams did not come at the expense of his extracurricular involvement. He managed to squeeze in study time between literary and academic bowl competitions, soccer, swimming and cross country practices, piano lessons and competitions, volunteer service at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and serving as a lab assistant in the biology/chemistry labs.
“My interests are varied, and I try to do a bit of everything,” Gaur said. “Lakeview provides me with the opportunity to explore all my passions while offering a rigorous curriculum to prepare me for these exams, college and life.”
Gaur is the son of Dr. Abhishek and Dr. Swati Gaur and his brother Garv is a seventh-grader at Lakeview.
