White County write-in candidate ruled ineligible

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND — A White County resident who requested to be considered a write-in candidate for County Commission District 4 in the November election has been declared ineligible for that seat.

Daniel White filed a notice with White Election Superintendent Garrison Baker on Sept. 1 to be a write-in candidate.

Baker said Wednesday that White, who listed his legal residence address as 4405 Helen Highway, is not a legal resident of District 4.

Baker said White resides in District 1 rather than District 4.

State law requires any candidate seeking election to a county commission seat to be a legal resident of the district for which he or she is running.

Baker said pursuant to state law any write-in votes cast for White as a candidate for County Commission District 4 will not be certified as valid write-in votes.
