Hundreds of students at West Hall High School in Oakwood wrapped up a week of service projects on Friday with a day of community service.

A total of 561 students participated in the off-campus service projects at 22 organizations in Gainesville and Hall County, according to school administrators.

Some of the organizations that benefited from the students' work were the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier, Good News at Noon, Back Pack Love, Hall County Parks & Leisure Services and various assisted living home. The students who didn't leave campus completed clean-up and improvement projects on the West Hall campus.

In addition, the students wrote and contributed more than 900 thank you letters for military troops stationed overseas.

Also during the Spartan Service Week, community volunteers visited the school to work with students on family skills and job interview techniques.
