By AccessWDUN staff

State Rep. Tommy Barr (R-Lawrenceville), whose district includes a portion of Hall County, has been named chairman of the House Code Revision Committee.

Barr was one of several House members named to committee chairmanships this week by House Speaker David Ralston.  The positions had become vacant due to resignations or reassignments since the 2017 session of the General Assembly adjourned in March.

Barr will also serve as a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and on the Health & Human Services, Motor Vehicles and Natural Resources & Environment committees.

“When the Speaker asked me if I would be willing to serve in this capacity, I told him that I would be honored,” said Rep. Barr. “We talked about the details of this committee and its responsibilities repealing law. I’m excited to get to work in this new area of service for my district and all of Georgia, and I am grateful to the Speaker for this opportunity.”

In addition to Barr, the new chairmen are:

·         Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government:  Rep. Chad Nimmer (R-Blackshear)

·         Industry & Labor Committee:  Rep. Bill Werkheiser (R-Glennville)

·         Small Business Development Committee:  Rep. Sam Watson (R-Moultrie)
