Spectrum boosting Internet download speed in Gainesville, other parts of north Georgia

By AccessWDUN Staff

Spectrum has increased the starting download speed of Spectrum Internet in the Gainesville area and other part of north Georgia from 60 to 100 Mbps, with no change in price.

The company announced last week that the change was coming to the Atlanta area, and a spokeswoman confirmed Sunday that the Gainesville area is also included.

The faster 100 Mbps speeds are available now to new Spectrum Internet customers, and the company says it has automatically increased speeds for most current residential customers with new Spectrum Internet packages and clients with new Spectrum Business Internet service.

“More than 99 percent of our customers now have access to Spectrum Internet with starting speeds of 100 Mbps,” said Mark Spilman, AVP of Field Operations for Georgia. “We’re delivering internet customers even more speed for streaming, surfing and social media, all with no change in the price of their Spectrum package.”

Spectrum Internet Ultra customers have received an automatic upgrade that will triple their top download speed from 100 to 300 Mbps, also with no change in their package price.

A small percentage of customers will need a new modem to receive the faster speeds; affected customers will be contacted directly with details on exchanging their modem.

Customers with legacy Spectrum packages will receive the faster speeds automatically in 2018. Visit www.spectrum.com or call 1-855-75-SPECTRUM for more information.
