Good News Clinics receives $29K grant to fund breast disease prevention, treatment

Good News Clinics in Gainesville recently was awarded a grant in the amount of $29,416.56 by It’s The Journey, Inc., producer of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.

According to a press statement, the grant money will fund the Breast Disease Prevention and Treatment Program.  

“We are privileged to facilitate the increased reach of these incredibly impactful breast health organizations,” said Kimberly Goff, Executive Director of It’s The Journey.

“Their efforts extend across the entire state, reaching over 16,000 Georgians in need of breast health services in over 100 counties. We are proud that our grants remain focused on local needs and impact the lives of Georgians, providing crucial access to services ranging from clinical breast exams, screening mammograms, diagnostics, genetic counseling and testing, to direct financial assistance”

The grant awarded to Good News Clinics is one of 27 presented by It’s The Journey this year to breast cancer programs across Georgia. 

“Funding from It’s The Journey enables Good News Clinics to offer screening mammograms to our patients who would not have access to them otherwise,” said Charlotte Crow, Development Director for Good News Clinics.  “This screening is extremely important in prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer.”

It’s The Journey, Inc. produces the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, an annual endurance walk that raises funds for breast health and breast cancer programs in Georgia.  In 14 years, It’s The Journey has raised $13 million and funded 298 breast cancer and breast health programs in the state.

Good News Clinics provides free medical care, dental care and specialty referrals to uninsured Hall County residents who have no other access to healthcare.
