Officials with Northeast Georgia Health System announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer Wednesday.
Brian D. Steines most recently served as CFO for University of Missouri Health Care and the MU School of Medicine in Columbia. In that role, he oversaw all financial aspects of the academic health system. It includes 5 facilities, a medical school, a Level 1 Trauma Center, 600 employed physicians and 500 residents, according to a news release from Northeast Georgia Health System.
"I'm honored to join NGHS, which has a tremendous national reputation, and continue its solid track record of balancing margin and mission to meet the healthcare needs of the community," Steines said in a prepared statement. "My wife and I, along with our two youngest sons, are already enjoying the area and calling it home."
Before MU, Steines worked as vice president of financial operations for Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network's Arizona Market, a network that includes 5 acute care hospitals with over 1,300 licensed beds and $1.5 billion in net revenue.
"We are fortunate to have such an experienced and qualified leader - especially in this time of change in healthcare," Northeast Georgia Health System President and CEO Carol Burrell said for the release.
In addition to the positions in Missouri and Arizona, Steines has held leadership roles with Vanguard Health Care, Health Management Associates and Catholic Healthcare West.
Steines has a master's degree in business and healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix, Arizona. He also has a bachelor's degree in business and public administration, accounting from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Steines is CPA.
He is replacing Tony Herdener, who retired after 21 years of service with NGHS.
