The City of Hoscthon in conjunction with the Hoschton Fall Festival is holding a Hometown Hero Competition.
The festival theme is “Celebrating Local Heroes.” A hero, according to a posting on the city's Facebook page, is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
Nomination forms are available at City Hall and can be submmitted by mail to City of Hoschton, Hometown Hero Competition, 79 City Square, Hoschton, GA 30548. Forms can also be completed and submitted on the city's Facebook page or at City of Hoschton.com. The deadline for nominations is August 25 by 12 noon.
The Hometown Hero Competition Committee will choose the top ten. Those ten will be interviewed and the winner will be selected. The same top ten will be photographed and photos will be placed on the City’s website for citizens to vote for their favorite. So there is a possibility of two winners of the competition. The winners will receive several awards including the opportunity to ride in the parade with the Grand Marshal, Mayor Theresa Kenerly, dinner with the Mayor, and a star placed in her or his honor on the Wall of Fame on the stage behind City Hall.
