Joanna Cloud announced Friday her plans to run for the District 24 seat in the state House of Representatives.

Cloud currently serves as Executive Director for the Lake Lanier Association.

A Georgia Tech graduate and a Forsyth County resident for the past 13 years, Cloud spent over 20 years in the software development industry before moving into her non-profit management role.

“I have been blessed to serve my community in a wide variety of school, social service, and environmental roles and would like to further my service in the House of Representatives. It takes strong leadership to tackle the challenges we face with education, transportation, economic development and infrastructure. I have a proven track record working with a diverse set of interests and finding solutions that work. That is the type of leadership I am running to provide.”

Cloud, who says she will run as a Republican, says her focus would be on education, infrastructure and transportation issues.

The office is now held by Republican Sheri Gilligan, who also lives in Forsyth County.
