MADISON — Jefferson has battled injury and adversity all season, but the Dragons continued to roll on Friday night, taking a 35-14 win at Morgan County.
And now the Dragons have earned their shot at a defining game for Region 8-3A.
Jefferson will play host to Monroe Area next week. As the only two undefeated teams in league play, the two top 10-programs can look forward to a week of build-up -- and Jefferson will come into the contest with plenty of momentum.
Thrust into starring roles on offense, sophomore quarterback Carter Stephenson and Zac Corbin (who has shifted all over the field from receiver to running back) fired the offense on Friday.
Stephenson completed 7 of 8 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns, while Corbin rushed for 63 yards and caught a 69-yard touchdown pass, as Jefferson built a 35-0 lead before two fourth quarter Morgan County touchdowns.
Nick Evans also got a defensive touchdown for the Dragons (7-1, 4-0 Region 8-3A) on a 25-yard fumble return, while Donsha Gaither and Jacob Thompson also added touchdown runs.
Jefferson built a 21-0 first half lead as Stephenson went 6 of 7 through the air.
