Suwanee to launch new city website in mid-March

Officials in Suwanee expect to launch the city's new website in mid-March, the first overhaul the site has seen since it was launched two decades ago.

"We've had the same guts — the back end of the website — for, gosh, about 15 years. So there's a lot of old, stale information on there," said Denise Brinson, assistant city manager, when reached by phone.

Developers have nailed down the new site's look and feel, and they're working to repopulate the old data into the new system, said Brinson.

A California company, Vision, was hired to complete the work, with Suwanee City Council awarding the $34,540 contract in late June 2017.

Officials at the time said that one of the main goals for the new site was to be more compatible with mobile devices. The way the old site was set up, publishers were forced to do double-duty, posting items once for the "main" desktop site, and a second time for mobile browsers.

"It will be nice to have the back end (of the new site) be in the year 2018," said Brinson.

While no firm launch date has been set, Brinson said it will be "around March 19th."
