Suwanee high school among three Gwinnett schools fielding violence threats on Tuesday

By AccessWDUN Staff
Three Gwinnett County high schools were targets of social media threats Tuesday, including Peachtree Ridge in Suwanee.

In the Peachtree Ridge High School incident, some students apparently tried to frame a classmate by posting a bogus threat of violence on two social media platforms. Fox 5 in Atlanta reported the threats showed up on Snapchat and Instagram.

The Gwinnett Daily Post indicated the posts included a photo of the student who was being framed. When school resource officers investigated, they determined the student who appeared in the post was not to blame.

Atlanta media reported the students believed responsible for the hoax will face disciplinary action.

Grayson High School and Discovery High School also reportedly received threats on Tuesday.

School officials across the state have had to deal with threats - some real and many false - ever since the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
