Led by Albany, Gainesville, and Augusta, first-time claims for unemployment insurance in Georgia decreased 8.5 percent in February.
That's according to state Labor Commissioner Mark Butler, who released the monthly numbers on Thursday.
Butler said applications were down 49.9 percent in Albany, 36.9 percent in Gainesville and 29.5 percent in Augusta. Claims were also down in Atlanta and Athens and all but four of the 14 metropolitan areas in Georgia.
The only areas reporting increases were Dalton, Rome, Macon, and Valdosta.
