According to this week's fuel price report from AAA, gas prices in March hit a four-year high.
Pump prices increased eight-cents during the past week, and are now the highest since October, according to the report. On average, prices at the pump climbed 19 cents in the last three weeks.
"Strong demand, tightening supplies, and record-high gasoline exports gave gas prices a boost this week," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "Pump prices seemed to have stalled over the weekend, but there is still potential for higher prices this spring."
The report said the average statewide price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.58; the highest prices in the state are in Hinesville-Fort Stewart and Brunswick, while the lowest prices are in the Catoosa-Dade-Walker area.
