Academy of Innovation recently celebrated “Jim Walters Day" to thank the Gainesville businessman and philanthropist for his gift to the school, which made it possible to outfit five classrooms with Smart Board technology.
“We at the Academy of Innovation want to express our sincere gratitude to Jim Walters for his generous donation to our school. Our entire staff, especially our students and teachers, are thrilled to have this technology available in our classrooms. These new Smart Boards allow our teachers to teach to different learning styles. Visual learners can take information in from the whiteboard, tactile learners can touch the screen, and so on. Our students can all utilize the Smart Boards at one time, helping to keep them engaged during lessons.Teachers can access the internet easily and can also integrate technology such as digital cameras, microscopes and more, to easily enhance lessons with our Smart Boards. Mr. Walters has given us a huge opportunity with this gift to enhance the way we are able to teach. Using smart technology in the classroom has proven success rates and we cannot wait to see how our students grow from having this tool,” said Ava White, Academy of Innovation Director.
